Sheaths for Fiddleback Forge Knives

Fixed Blade Sheaths

At Fiddleback Outpost we're dedicated to offering finest quality blades, but we recognize that one critical component is often overlooked by the knife manufacturers and resellers: Sheaths. As we grow our ever-expending inventory of fixed blade knives, we're been also looking to compliment those knives with popular camping and bushcrafting accessories. We've started reaching our to sheath makers to develop a different lines of Fiddleback Outpost sheaths for a wide variety of fixed blade knives and various carrying styles.

The first to step up to this challenge was Jason at Diomedes Industries. Jason has been a leather crafter and sheath maker so some time and brought Diomedes onboard initially to do some pouch knives for 3, 3.5, 4, and 5 inch blades. We had these produced in four different colors - ranging from a light oak to black. We then worked with Diomedes to build out an entire line of ambidextrous pocket sheaths - the APS line. These sheaths fit a wide array of pocket size knives from Fiddleback Forge and other manufacturers.

A mention of our sheath work with Diomedes wouldn't be complete without a shout out to the members at Blade Forums (bladeforums.com). Diomedes put out a call for members there that frequent the Fiddleback Forge sub-forum to send in any knives that they were will to part with for a few days, so that models could be made from the different knives, allowing different style sheaths to be made from those models so that Fiddleback Outpost could offer a full line of sheaths for Fiddleback Forge knives, as well as other fixed blade knives. The support received from members was overwhelming as over 30 different model knives were sent in.

Recently, we’ve seen few stores or websites that will offer sheaths made for any and all types of Fiddleback Forge knives, and here at Fiddleback Outpost, we’d like to be the website where one can do just that: a sort of one-stop-shop for both Fiddleback Forge knives and sheaths to accompany them. Currently, we’ve started working with a few sheath manufacturers to make sheaths to fit the wide variety of Fiddleback Forge knife models offered, and our ultimate goal is to be the place where any manner of sheath for any manner of Fiddleback knife can be found.

At the moment, we are focusing purely on leather sheaths but we soon hope to expand to carry Kydex sheaths as well.

Obviously, the work with Diomedes Industries has just started and they are just our first sheath maker that we're looking to bring on board. Ultimately our goal is to be a one-stop shop for a wide array of sheath needs to serve the knife community.

If you are a sheath maker and want Fiddleback Outpost to stock your sheaths for Fiddleback Forge knives, contact us through this website and we will be happy to reach out to you!

An APS Sheath

We are incredibly excited to be making improvements and expansions to better deliver on the goal of being the best place to shop for great knives and accessories. We're especially proud to be working with the skilled artisans to bring everyone the best bushcrafting/camping tools available anywhere. Look for our sheath program to continue to grow so that we will always have in stock a wide variety of sheath styles and models to suite everyone's fixed blade sheath needs.

We hope that all of you will continue to support us as we strive to make the Outpost better and better, continuing to add additional styles of sheaths and bring additional sheath makers onto the scene. We are also looking to add improvements to the website to accommodate more online sheath customization options beyond the ones we currently have, so that a custom sheath can be built to your specifications where in-stock models won't meet your specific needs.

I gifted a Fiddleback Forge Maverick knife to my husband for Father’s Day. I am looking for a leather sheath for this knife that would also hook onto his belt and have a strap to ensure the knife will not fall out when he is hunting. Can you help me? Thanks!

If you are a fan of AMC's Fear the Walking Dead, you may have seen one of our leather products on the show and not known it...

One of the main characters, John Dorie regularly carries a sweet lever action with one of our RLO Custom Leather No-Drill Harnessed Slings on it. You see, John was a bit of a sport shooter before the zombie apocalypse hit in TX. He was a regular on the cowboy shooting circuit, as well as being a law enforcement officer. And when you are a cowboy shooter, as well as a Texan, a lever action rifle is naturally a great choice. Lever action rifles are known for their reliability and smooth action. Not to mention, your rifle and your sidearm can use the same ammo if you buy right. That means alot when ammo is scarce and you're facing hordes of the undead...as well as ...

The Making of a Quality Leather Sheath
The Making of a Quality Leather Sheath

After dozens of years of custom knife use as well as over seven years of making custom sheaths I have some strong opinions as to what makes a high quality sheath.  I have spent countless hours reading, watching, and talking about making sheaths with high end custom makers and have varied my technique over the years and have come to a process that I think makes the very best sheath I can make for the money and application.  I am sure I will continue to tweak these processes slightly over time as I learn and try new things but there are some things that I think are a must for a high quality sheath.
