John Dorie's Rifle Sling on Fear the Walking Dead
*SPOILER ALERT*
If you are a fan of AMC's Fear the Walking Dead, you may have seen one of our leather products on the show and not known it...
One of the main characters, John Dorie regularly carries a sweet lever action with one of our RLO Custom Leather No-Drill Harnessed Slings on it. You see, John was a bit of a sport shooter before the zombie apocalypse hit in TX. He was a regular on the cowboy shooting circuit, as well as being a law enforcement officer. And when you are a cowboy shooter, as well as a Texan, a lever action rifle is naturally a great choice. Lever action rifles are known for their reliability and smooth action. Not to mention, your rifle and your sidearm can use the same ammo if you buy right. That means alot when ammo is scarce and you're facing hordes of the undead...as well as the crazy people who've lasted this long.
But a lever action rifle, especially older ones, have a downside. They are not easy to carry since they don't come with a sling. And until recently, the only way to add one was to drill your beautiful stock and screw in a metal stud. Who wants to take a drill to one of these classics?! Well, not John Dorie. John has class. He chose one of RLO's Harnessed Sling packages to wrap that stock in beautiful, durable cowhide...thus creating a perfect way to carry the rifle...as well as looking really nice doing it!
Now, if you watch the show, this won't come as a surprise to you...but last Sunday...the show killed off John. Sad. John was pretty cool. I mean, who doesn't like a fast-shooting cowboy popping zombies like a teenager does morning pimples?! But alas, John was just too damn nice for his own good. He trusted the wrong person...and well, that's just not smart when SHTF. And of course, we are extra sad...because we love seeing a product that thousands of our customers have enjoyed being a regular cast member of a major network television show!
The above photo shows John's wife, June...seen above also sporting a sweet Lever Action with an RLO Custom Leather No-Drill Harnessed Sling. We're hoping that she will continue to rock the lever action, and possible use it to avenge her husband. We're anxious to see who inherits John's other prized firearms as well. It would be a shame to see them go.
